    This book is not another “how to” guide for social media. I, like many of us, have read those books and became frustrated with their one-size fits all methodology, and outdated statistics. To be frank, I had almost given up on finding a book that could remain relevant long enough to be published. Qualman succeeds with the second edition of Socialnomics. Erik weaves insight with statistics, and concise case studies to show the reader how organizations have succeeded, and continue to succeed, in the “World of Mouth(tm).”

    If you are in search of a “ten easy steps” or “social media made simple” guide, you are looking in the wrong place. Qualman describes a world where products and services discover customers in an ever-changing global marketplace. His case studies and insight inspire the reader to discover their own unique place in this landscape of opportunities. While examples are provided, and techniques are discussed, the details of implementation are up to the reader. Rather than providing explanations on how to blog or post, Erik describes why you should want to, and what your stakeholders are looking for in the first place.

    Qualman describes a social topography, irrespective of age or gender, just waiting for your organization to create a conversation. Unlike other authors, Erik understands that the best-intentioned managers still have to answer to someone asking the cost questions. Erik does an amazing job of of explaining this complex world of digital and social media and takes the reader though how to maximize digital media to their business and personal success. The newly updated Socialnomics exposes best practice case studies and tested advice from nearly 100 Fortune 1000 companies, universities from around the globe, experts in the field, larghe & small businesses, and even non-profit organizations. Unless you are planning on retiring next month, you need to understand the concepts in Socialnomincs.

    Erik Qualman got famous for writing one of the pivotal books on Social Media called Socialnomics. His updated version is every bit as good as the original edition, which was a huge hit.

    Usually, updates are the same book with new statistics, but it looks as though Qualman went in and revamped quite a bit of the book.

    If you’re looking for a well-written, inspirational book, this has everything that you’re looking for. It’s got some theory, but is mostly filled with practical information that can be applied pretty quickly to just about any business.

    Good book by a good author. Worth checking out.
